Skycity Hamilton Casino

We’re going down a couple of notches, but only in size, and not in entertainment value. Prior to this New Zealand land-based casino we took a look at the Skycity Auckland Casino and were blown away. Auckland’s Skycity casino was staggering in size and offerings. However, just because we’re gearing down a bit doesn’t mean that we’re not impressed with the Skycity Hamilton Casino. In fact, this casino actually packs quite a bit of punch on all fronts and in some ways offers a more intimate gaming experience.

Casino Games to play at Skycity Hamilton

Skycity Hamilton Casino offers a total of 330 gaming machines, most of them being pokies models. In terms of table games, there are 23 one’s for you to frequent for lucrative rewards. Table games seem to be of a particular focus at the Hamilton and this is clearly shown by the Salon 8, where you can play higher limit tables and have a greater degree of privacy. The casino’s 23 table games are made up of the following offerings:

  • Baccarat
  • Blackjack
  • Caribbean Stud
  • Money Wheel
  • Roulette
  • Three Card Poker
  • Ultimate Texas Hold’em

The Hamilton also has days set aside, in their case, Fridays and Saturdays and between the hours of 8pm and 10pm, where they will teach you to play table games. The casino also offers Learn to Play packages for a fee of NZ$40 per person. While we do commend them for making these services available, we’re a bit let down by the fact that they’re charging. The online casino’s that we promote to New Zealand players all have free-play games that can be enjoyed at no cost. The rules are all there and players can play until mastery is achieved.

Skycity Hamilton’s Restaurants & Bars

Like the New Zealand land-based casinos we’ve already looked at, Skycity Hamilton offers a fair share of options – all things considered – quite a bit actually. There’s the City Co-Op which has Eat Burger, Marble Room, The Local Taphouse and a place called the Coffee Post. Each one will offer a different taste, mood and atmosphere. And that’s just the City Co-Op section. The rest of the venues for eating and socialising include The Vue Bar where the lunch special goes for a mere NZ$7 and the Number Eight Bar where breakfast also goes for a very decent NZ$7. The Zone Sports Bar claims that it has one of the largest screens in town, hosts a regular quiz night and has a cool NZ$9 lunch special. Finally there’s the Blend Café where an eclectic range of meals will see to your peckish or nibble needs.

What Else is Going On?

The majority of the Skycity Hamilton Casino extra activities or additional offerings are actually provided by their restaurants. As a result you can look forward to things like their quiz nights and their family package restaurant deals. In terms of more casino gaming there’s their Bingo charity drive with guaranteed prizes. All the major promos can be viewed on the Skycity calendar.
